I never really thought she was small, until this. She's a perfect combination of both parents. Longs legs from dad and small body from me. Perfect for the long jump 🤣
I wouldn’t be upset at either of those comments.
I really hate that people comment on size of babies. Actually I hate that people comment on anyone’s size! My girl is in 9-12 clothes and gets ‘she’s petite isn’t she’ all of the time. Maybe we need to start saying back to them. Your skinny are you eating enough, you’ve got some rolls maybe you should cut back 😂 The exhausting comment… it sounds like she shouldn’t be in childcare. Plus the room should be baby proofed so it shouldn’t matter how fast she is 🤷♀️
@Michelle hahaha this made me smile. Thank you.
I think that room leader isn’t cut out for the job. Maybe next time you see them you could give a snarky comment back lol
She probably means well about how fast she is but I wouldnt be happy about the size comments! I get this too as my daughters little friends are all huge and chubby, she is average size (bang on 50th centile) but very tall so she looks slim, just like her Daddy. You cant win they dont want them to be too big and fat or you get accused of overfeeding, or else they say how petite they are!
@Amal well I did reply "This is why she's here while me and daddy are still in annual leave"
I HATE the size comment, we had a struggle with reflux and he lost so much weight, so I would be miffed with that. My little boy is fast and everywhere too so I would have said something like wow I know got her training for the Olympics ha ha or with the exhausting bit at least the worker will sleep well the nights your Olympian is in
Being completely objective here - and sorry if it’s not what you want to hear - just because these comments were not nice to hear and caused you offence doesn’t mean that’s how the room leader meant them. It read to me that she was trying to show she got to know your child today and try to relate to you as a parent. Whilst some of the word choices aren’t what I’d like to hear either, I have had people tell me my child is ‘wild’ and ‘must be exhausting’. I found the comments hard to hear but those people were really just trying to be empathetic and relate to me. My advice would be try to assume the best intentions and see how it goes from here x
Just came to say my little one is the same sort of size and sees loads of health professionals who are all happy with her. If she’s tracking okay don’t worry about the weight! Some babies are just smaller!
