Colostrum Struggles

Hi all, I am really struggling with colostrum harvesting! I’ve been trying for a few days, but have not gotten more than a few tiny drops on my nipples. Not enough for even 1ml in a syringe. Any tips or tricks that have worked for you would be appreciated! I’m 38 weeks.

Not everyone will be able to collect before birth so try not to stress about it. A warm bath or shower beforehand is what I do. I don’t collect huge amounts. Have a look online for the techniques too. ☺️

I never managed to collect any with my first pregnancy but still successfully breast fed, so don’t stress if you don’t manage - it doesn’t indicate what milk supply would be like

Have a shower and make sure you are as relaxed as possible. Make sure you have had plenty to drink during the day. Not sure it makes a difference but I find evenings the best just before bed. Massage your breast after the shower and gently squeeze and hold around the nipple for 5 seconds. Hope this helps 🙂

I never managed to get any last pregnancy. I exclusively breastfed until she was 1 (and then continued at night until she was 2) and I could never hand express! I never even leaked! I was really worried about my supply because of it when I was pregnant, but I had no issues feeding x

I feel like everyone has the ideal time of day. I'm useless past 12pm. Morning not so bad. Heat really is great, hot water bottle against breast for a little while helped me. However, I also have to go for a long time to get anything. So I started on an hour on each breast and if I haven't got the time to dedicate like 2hrs there's no point in me even trying!
