Breech!

Had a growth scan today, 36+2, baby is weighing around 6lb 2oz but has turned himself upside down! What happens now? I'm waiting for phone call now from whoever but wondered what it might entail 👶

For me they offered an ECV at 37 weeks and/or csection at 39 weeks. Vaginal breech delivery may be possible but ill advised. ECV has 50% success rate - maybe a bit less for ftm, maybe a bit more if you’ve already had a baby. I’ve declined the ECV and going straight to the csection assuming they don’t shift!

I had a scan on Tuesday and my baby is breech I am booked for am ECV next week. My options were 1. Do nothing and come back in 2 weeks for another scan to see if it turns on it's own. 2. ECV or 3. Elective C-section.

I'm booked for an elective section anyway before finding out he was breech so hopefully they let me carry on as normal

I’m in the same boat - discussed EVC but I’m very reluctant to go down that route. Currently trying everything naturally to try and shift baby but got another scan in 2 weeks where we might have to consider a section 😭

Mine was breech at 36w scan too. Doing some Accupuncture and moxa treatments along with spinning babies exercises- look at their website if you want. Also if he doesn’t flip im planning vaginal birth, either at home or at the hospital- not yet decided as it will depend on some factors. But hope he flips. I have another scan at 38+3w to check position again

@Ivelina I’d be surprised if a vaginal breech delivery at home is permitted - it’s quite risky and only allowed in hospital when appropriately experienced staff are available.

@Ellyse actually no one can forbid it. It is your choice where you decide to so it, NHS has to support you either way. But obviously you would only do it if it makes sense for you and your situation so yeah. But breech deliveries are normal as well, just less common because nowadays women are scared into c sections.
