Ectopic?

HI I am 6 weeks pregnant I’ve got back pains - like when you have period pains And also stomach cramping Also shoulder pain Not severe pain at all but like when you do when you get your period. I’ve had some mucus with brown tinge - 3 times Is this to worry about? Thanks

I would definitely go to the early pregnancy unit, tell them the above and they will likely book you in for bloodwork to see your HCG levels and a scan to see where the pregnancy sac has implanted.

Sorry for gross pic but is this normal Or not I’ve rang just waiting for the dr to call back

Mine started with brown discharge like that, I ended up just going to a&e and they sent me up to EPU as you need a referral where I live and GP wasn’t interested.

Our epu is in a different hospital an hour away I’ve rang them and they said they’ll call me back before 6pm..

@Ellie did you have any pains

Just spoke to someone at the hospital she said my symptoms are normal - brown blood is old blood and that back and stomach cramps are normal. And my shoulder pain would be shock like pains if it was an ectopic pregnancy

No I didn’t really have pain, even when it ruptured, but that is really unusual. That’s crazy the epu won’t even see you if you’ve got shoulder tip pain because that’s the big sign people always talk about. If it continues and you’re worried just go to a&e and they’ll have to see you. I had brown blood spotting for about 10 days and then it turned to red blood, but only ever spotting when I wiped.

Yeah I just had some light spotting /brownish discharge and a bit of cramping which is why I went I genuinely thought I was being over dramatic but then was told straight away at the EPU that the pregnancy wasn’t in the uterus… They told me if I had shoulder pain to go straight to A&E

If you still have shoulder tip pain I would absolutely get yourself to A&E. When mine turned from brown to red, that was when it ruptured. I dont want to scare you, because bleeding can be harmless, but if accompanied with shoulder tip pain, you need to be seen urgently.

@Ellie they are literally saying it’s normal and to come in tomorrow at 3 in the afternoon

Agree with the above, this is one of those things that only a doctor and a scan can answer. If the pregnancy is ectopic and has a potential to rupture it will be be much worse and dangerous if you wait, if you get a scan and it’s fine than you will be reassured. Please keep well and get yourself to a doctor or A&E soon.

They said they’ll see me today, it’s turned into a full on period bleed Not sure what to think

😢 I’m sorry, I understand completely the rollercoaster of emotions you re going through at the moment. Similar situation happened to me back in July. I’m here to chat if you need ❤️

They’ve really made me feel fobbed off like all the symptoms are nothing, even the shoulder pain they’ve said I must have pulled a muscle or slept funny..

Hope all goes well at the doctors today!

I had really bad cramping and my gp wouldn’t refer me to the epu… I ended up taking myself to a&e and needed emergency surgery… always best to get checked out no matter what others say! X
