PGP?

I have really bad pain in my lower tummy/ pelvic area, my hips, my back and my knees. It’s not cramps or shooting pains, it’s really excruciating and hurts no matter what I’m doing unless I’m sitting or laying still. Even when I try to turn in bed the pain is so bad I could cry with the pain and when I am moving from laying on one side to the other I feel like I get stuck laying on my back because it’s too painful to turn either way. Even getting out of bed and trying to sit up is a really bad struggle and can sometimes take me a good few minutes to get up. Sometimes I even have to get someone to help me up because I get stuck while trying to get up by myself. Could this be PGP? I have been looking up about PGP and it seems likely that it could be that, but I haven’t had a diagnosis yet, so would really appreciate it if anyone with a diagnosis or better knowledge on PGP could give me advice on whether it sounds like it could be pelvic girdle pain. Thanks! ☺️

Hi Chantelle, I am 27 weeks pregnant and diagnosed with PGP around 20 weeks. I also have all the symptoms you have described. It’s hard to stand up from a chair and get in and out of a car as well. My physiotherapist gave me some exercises to do and a tubigrip to wear. But none of those work. It gets worse and worse. But from last week I started to do 30 minutes walk ignoring the pain. I still have the pain but being active seems good to get out of the stress of PGP.

@Thilanka Hi! Thanks so much! I will definitely mention it at my next midwife appointment and see what help they can offer me. I take walks outside almost every day and it hasn’t seemed to help but glad it’s working for you! Hopefully the midwives can offer me some help that will work for me. Thanks so much again! ☺️

Definitely sounds like PGP, there's not a great deal that stops it unfortunately, I suffered terribly in my first pregnancy and I have it now. I have a pelvic support belt which I wear to walk around and it quite literally holds my pelvis together and definitely helps! You want to really try and not do anything on 1 leg which then causes asymmetric movement in your pelvis. So for example, putting your trousers/pants/socks on whilst standing up, using one leg to get in and out of the car, putting more weight in one leg when standing up. Try and sit down when dressing, swing your legs out of the car together to stand up, create a squat position to stand up from anywhere, when rolling over in bed again try and keep your legs together/use them at the same time and not one more than another!

Definitely sounds like PGP I seen a physio today and she gave me some exercises and a tubigrip and a PGP belt so will see how I go but the pain i walk or try and turn Is excruciating it’s really getting me down the only relief I get is in a bath that I don’t have. She did at a exercise ball works wonders for the pressure so going to try that as well x

I have this as well, it’s horrid!!

@Hannah okay thank you so much! I will definitely keep all this advice in mind I have been doing things that are putting pressure on one leg more than the other so I will definitely start doing things sitting down and using both legs at the same time for anything I’m doing. Thanks so much for the advice! ☺️

@Kristal yess it’s so horrible isn’t it😭 it’s so debilitating😞

@Lisa hope you can find something to ease your pain!!☺️ it’s so horrible isn’t it, definitely going to mention it to my midwife to see what help I can receive x
