Spit up/ vomit

My 3 weeks old is finally latching after my appointment with an lactation specialist this morning. After this morning’s feeding, she spit up milk. I was told by the lactation specialist that was normal but once I got home and feed her again she vomited a huge amount of milk. Is this normal? Up until now I was pumping and bottle feed her and she never either spit up or vomit.

I was told if they’re projecting vomiting that’s when I should be concerned

If it makes you feel any better, our baby girl had her month pediatrician appointment today. As soon as the Dr walked into the room she threw up a lot all over me and he said it was a normal reflex and I shouldn’t worry.

My baby spits up after being fed and burped also and I was told it’s normal in babies at that age. But im also wondering if it’s normal because my baby spit ups/vomits usually like 2-3 times after a feeding. I’m thinking it can be reflux?

@Jody that's good to know

@Faith Richardson Definitely make me feel better thank you!

My baby girl used to do that as well, I was told as long as she’s gaining a good weight and her output is still good then to not worry. Once they are not gaining anymore weight and loosing it is when you should start to worry. I was also told to burp after every ounce that they drink, but when you breastfeed the it’s a little hard to know when that is, so just make sure after they detach just burp them.

@Faith Richardson exactly, it’s totally normal even if it’s out of the nose and mouth( just suction nose) or a lot. Though consistent, nonstop or blood(don’t mean to fright js) is a concern.

@Jody what is that?
