Clogged milk duct!!

I have a clogged milk duct and I’ve tried everything to get it out!! It hurts soooo bad and idk what more I can do 😭 I’ve massaged in a warm shower for 30 mins I did warm compress, I used a massager on it, I had my partner rub it .. and It’s still there.. I’ve taken pain meds and nothing had helped!!

I haven't experienced this myself, but I saw a video where a woman with a clogged duct put hot water in her manual pump and put it on. The steam seeped in and helped unclog it. Not sure if you could try something like that, it's similar to the shower but more targeted I guess.

I’ve seen a video where a woman had her partner suck the clogged milk duct. And it was the only thing that worked.

I've had this a few times and massaging regularly as many times as I could throughout the day has always helped, even though massaging it hurts so much! 😩 Also, getting my little boy to breastfeed as much as possible all day was important as well to keep moving milk through the vessels in the breast. I also found a page online that explained how to massage around the breast and into the armpit to get the lymph nodes and everything flowing a bit more, but the other two things are definitely what helped the most.

Just fyi the recommendation now is to ice. Tbh ice is the only thing theat ever worked for me. I tried all the warm and massage stuff and it only made it worse. A clogged duct can cause the duct (flesh itself) to become inflamed and if you think about it ice is the only remedy for that. Warm stuff increases milk supply so if it's clogged it could make it worse. I put some ice on the clog for like 10-15 min and then try to pump/bf again. It worked every time for me.

Oh and also, go braless to let the clog be loose, that helps too.

I’ve heard that massaging over it with a toothbrush can help. Personally, I remember a hot water bottle and time helping.

Epsom salt soaks with a hakka have helped me. Latching baby on that side as much as you can. And doing gentle massaging around the area while feeding or pumping. When I've had really painful clogs, I would lean forward while in the shower to let gravity try to pull out the milk. Ice, ibuprofen, and Epsom soaks were the best remedy for me though. Over massaging can irritate the area more so try to use ice and ibuprofen for a little bit for the inflammation.

I got my partner to suuck it out 😭

Epsom salt in a haaka and then do dangle pumping on a low speed but high vacuum

Sunflower lecithin works surprisingly fast. I honestly have taken 3 or 4 at once when really desperate and it works.

Thank you all the recommendations!! I ended up having to be rushed to the hospital because I was shaking uncontrollably and had a temp of 103… turns out I have an infection in my breast 😭..

It sucks you have an infection but it's good you now know and it can be taken care of! Make sure you take all your meds!

Ya clogs can turn into mastitis quick if you get one again in the future ice try to use less heat and massage and the haaka epsom with sunflower lecithin has worked for me getting tough clogs out in a day

Ouch i’m sorry! For me, the haaka with epsom salt and warm water worked and the “husband method” (partner sucks the clog out) and I also recommend sunflower lecithin!

Sunflower lecithin!! I took it when I was BF my daughter anytime I felt a clog coming on and it always helped. That & continue to feed / pump as usual.
