Have you ever had an MRI? Comment your experiences!

I’m having an MRI next week while pregnant. I’ve never had one before and they said it will take awhile. Can you share your experience? What to expect? Any tips?

First off, the machine is pretty loud, so you’ll probably hear some banging and whirring noises. They’ll give you earplugs or headphones to help with that. You’ll lie down on a table that slides into the machine, and you have to stay really still for a while, usually around 20-45 minutes depending on what they’re looking for. As for tips, wear comfy clothes without any metal like zippers or buttons because you can’t have anything like that on you. If you can, bring a small pillow or something to help you relax. Just focus on your breathing and maybe even bring a playlist or something to listen to if they allow it. It can feel a bit claustrophobic, but it’s totally manageable! And remember, they’re just checking to make sure everything’s okay. You got this!

@Angel they said it would take an hour which just sounds insanely long 😭

I’ve had an MRI once a while back. It was for my head and neck and no I was not pregnant. I filled out a form and was asked if I had any metal objects on me. I was fine in the beginning but I remember feeling so uneasy after the table slid into the machine and I sort of had a mini panic attack which I believe was the feeling of claustrophobia. I put all my energy into not sitting up because I was for some reason freaking out. I had to distract myself by counting. Never in my life had I thought I would be scared by something like this.It was a very strange experience 😅
