Nursery!

My son is due to start nursery in January for 2 days 8.30-3.30 I’m already an emotional wreck about this! But my anxiety now is my work hours are 8.30-3.30 same as his nursery hours. I’ve managed to get work to agree to 9-3 for the first 3 weeks but then I’m back to normal. I feel so bad that I’m not going to be there to pick him up or drop him off and have to rely on a family member. I’ll be with him 10 minutes after he finishes but my anxiety is starting to eat me up about this! Please tell me I’m not the only one who has to do this or feels this way! 😢

I think most people’s little ones have been going for a while if it makes you feel any better. Mine goes 8-5 two Days a week. I pick him up one day my partner the next. It’s normal to feel like this at first, they soon get used to it and enjoy going !

@Natalie it’s more the guilt eating me because I’m not going to be there to pick him up. I think it’s probably something I need to get over 😂

He is going to have a great time there interacting with other children and learning new things, the more you see him thrive the better you will feel 😊 it's so hard when you first send them but it does get a lot better when you realise how much it benefits them x

Presume you get the funding for these hours? Why don’t you ask nursery can you do 8-4 and pay for that hour? X

My little girl has been going since she was 1 but I did feel the same back then. Once I started building a bond with her key workers and noticed how happy and safe she was there all of the worries lifted (that didn’t take long at all). Hopefully this happens for you too ❤️ also lots of grandparents or friends do pick ups at my nursery.. don’t feel bad! Your little one will be excited to see you once you’re home or maybe extend the pick up time by 15 mins if possible .. I know mine charges in 15 min gaps so could be worth the few extra quid xx

@Brooke Thankyou this has made me feel a bit better!

@Hannah this is possibly an option to a breakfast/after club which we will look into.
