SCH at 5+2 and terrified (graphic content)

Hi all, I’m pregnant after an early MC last cycle. Started spotting brown Sunday evening and went to EPU for a scan on Monday and measured at 5+ 2 — they found a haematoma and said I can expect the discharge to become proper bleeding maybe with clots or string-y bits and cramping. Advised paracetamol for the pain. It got SO MUCH WORSE and I’m terrified. After the MC I feel completely traumatised seeing blood when I wipe and the cramping in my back and lower tummy is awful — like really bad period. Passed a lump of stuff that looked like tissue (see photo) which completely freaked me out and thought I was losing this pregnancy. Did a clear blue test and still looks really positive. Called EPU again today and they said all I can do is wait until next scan (booked for next week) but they’ve prescribed progesterone to start that I’m going to collect tomorrow. Any advice or support or similar stories would be amazing, the anxiety is so bad and I’m struggling to cope. No one I know has even heard of a SCH which makes me feel so lonely.

Hi Charlie, I have been diagnosed with a SCH at 7+5. I've had lots of bleeding up until yesterday actually (I'm 11+2 today). I haven't had any clots but I've been told it can happen. Mine seems to be getting smaller thank god but it's always a worry. I have spoken to a few people in the same situation so you are definitely not alone. And I have had miscarriages and this is an IVF baby so I can completely sympathise with your worries as it feel like history repeating itself but that's not necessarily the case. You are definitely not alone and you're more than welcome to message me if you want to chat xx

Hi Laura, thank you so much for taking the time to reply 🩷 Your journey sounds very reassuring so thank you for sharing, wishing you a healthy and positive pregnancy lovely xx

Hi I just wanted to share I had a clot that passed in my early stages of pregnancy. I was freaked out as the days went on it got worse , I had little tiny clots. I was away on holiday at the time and I really felt like that was it. It was just the clot passing and it didn’t affect my pregnancy. I took lots of photos of it each day . Xx

I was diagnosed with sch when I was 7 weeks pregnant due to having bleeding. 2 weeks later I had intense cramping that led to me passing a clot almost the size of the palm of my hand along with several smaller clots in the middle of the night and I just knew I had a MC. Thankfully the baby was fine but the ultrasound showed that the hemorrhage grew significantly and I was put on bed and pelvic rest for 6-7 weeks. This was super difficult with have a 4 and 6 year old but I did as best as I could. The bleeding subsided and I’m now 27 weeks pregnant

Thank you everyone for bravely sharing you stories to reassure a total stranger, it really means a lot. Been rescanned at EPU and confirmed pregnancy is still in there and they can’t see the SCH anymore so it must have passed! They just prescribed progesterone pessaries so taking these twice a day now. The bleeding is now bright red and more like a period but no clots so hopefully that will stop soon (fingers crossed!)
