We also take into consideration if there is a bug going round. Then we are more likely to call parents if there is a change in the lo poo xx
@Poppy thank you so much for this. He actually had his first tooth brake through the gum yesterday so it could have been that or maybe cuz he was recovering from HFM - or both 🙈
I’ve worked in nurseries before. At this age I would consider a poo to be diarrhoea if it was: - frequent poos - loose poos - different number/type of poo to baby’s usual -smell of the poo I would also consider teething as even though there’s no evidence of teething directly causing loose poos I’ve experience it so many times I can almost tell when a baby is about to cut a tooth when their poo changes. I’d also be considering if new allergens or foods have been introduced which can also change things. For example if your baby normally does 2 loose poos a day I wouldn’t call it diarrhoea. If however they do 3 in an hour, get a sore bum, it’s looser than normal etc I would consider this diarrhoea. Some nurseries I’ve worked at have a policy such as 3 loose poos in 2 hours would lead to contacting a parent. Hope this helps x
