Anyone else feeling like being a mum is becoming their entire personality?

I'm only pregnant with my first so it's not like I even have more at home to think about but my brain is all consumed with what to buy and planning things and being excited for what's to come. And when my friends are talking about other things I almost feel bad about the fact I'm not as interested as I used to be cause I'm just sat thinking about how nice it'll be to take my baby to the aquarium or some nonsense šŸ˜…

No Iā€™ve never agreed more. I feel like Iā€™m losing all of what made me well me. Itā€™s honestly been a struggle because now I feel like Iā€™m ā€œpressuredā€ into being like a standard mum, I just want to be myself again

Find a way to mix the 2. As a mom of 3 (pregnant with #4) I struggled for a long time and got to the point where I almost resented my children/family. Youā€™re a mom and thatā€™s never going to change. It is one of the many hats that youā€™re going to wear from this moment forward but it doesnā€™t have to be your identity. Your interests may change, your priorities may change, but you are still you. Youā€™re just growing into a different (Iā€™ll argue better) version of yourself. Find something to do for yourself every day, once a week, etc thatā€™s for YOU. For me thatā€™s doing my hair and makeup and putting regular clothes on and not rotting in sweats and looking like a troll lol that didnā€™t make me feel good which made me angry at everyone around me. Putting myself together and getting my sahm tasks done during the day motivates me to sit down during nap time and after I put the kids to bed to watch a show that I like or crochet because Iā€™m a grandma haha.

Pt2. Get out of the house and take baby with you. That may be a simple walk to get fresh air, sitting on the porch, or taking a drive to go get a coffee. It may take a bit longer and more effort to get out of the house but youā€™ll feel so good once you do. Be patient with yourself and baby. If baby decides to be fussy that day, give baby grace and pivot. Instead of going out, light a candle and take a bath that evening or watch a show or just take a nap lol life as a mom especially a new mom can be hard and overwhelming but it is so rewarding. You can find a balance between baby caretaker and still being yourself. Youā€™ve got this mama ā¤ļø

I have an almost one year old and 25 weeks almost with my second. Being a mum is the single most amazing thing Iā€™ve ever accomplished in my life and Iā€™ve done a lot with my life so far šŸ¤£ I feel like in my heart everything Iā€™ve ever done has been leading me to this time of my life, like everything had to fall into place the way it did for me to meet the man I did and have my beautiful babiesā€¦I might have a controversial opinion and maybe Iā€™ll think differently one day but Iā€™m DELIGHTED that Iā€™m ā€œjust a mumā€. I donā€™t care about going out and getting drunk anymore, couldnā€™t care less about doing stuff just for me, I live for my little girl and my soon to be little boy. Everything I do I do it with them in mind, Iā€™ve bought myself some new clothes recently because yeah itā€™s too easy to neglect yourself but I also donā€™t even mind haha. Must sound batshit mental but I could just keep having babies over and over forever itā€™s the best era Iā€™ve ever lived in. Youā€™re going to love it xx

This is exactly how I was in my first pregnancy and to be fair it hasnā€™t really changed much since having my son and now being pregnant with my second. I find being a mum all consuming which I know others find too much but personally it doesnā€™t bother me, I know this stage wonā€™t last forever and as they get older they wonā€™t need me as much and I will naturally find other interests and things in my life but at the moment I am happy with ā€˜just being a mumā€™.

This is literally me and I donā€™t care šŸ¤£ I canā€™t wait, Iā€™ll be in Tescos and be like oh how cute will it be to walk round with a pram LOL
