Weight loss and breastfeeding

I am starting my weight loss journey. I want to lose 15-20 pounds before getting pregnant again. I'm giving myself around 8 months to complete this goal. I have been breastfeeding for 14 months and don't plan to wean for at least a few more months. I am 175 and only 5'3. I'm tired of not being proud of my body. I want to feel confident and not ashamed. I really need to lose like 40 pounds but I am trying to be realistic and give myself grace (before next baby). I prioritize protein, walking, and running a mile everyday. I eat whole foods and cut out any fastfood and soda. I have lost 1 pound in 3 weeks. I don't know much about weight loss and breastfeeding. Is it going to be extra hard, or is that a myth? What's your experience? Thanks

I also want to start this, but I'd rather do intermittent fasting and at least 12000 steps in a day. I have seen results from people I know You'll lose a lot even before 3 months

Like how many cups of coffee in a day please

I think that sounds incredibly reasonable, and you'll end up finishing ahead of schedule. 🙂 It takes a few weeks for your body to get into gear when you're starting new habits. I recommend a pedometer to track your progress. The scale is deceitful, but the steps never lie. 👣👣👣

@Paris Interesting. I have cut down on snacking which was really difficult because I felt and still feel like I could eat everything in sight when breastfeeding. I can tell my milk supply has lowered a little bit already even with that change... So im trying to be careful

I lost 286 ibs after baby #2 & i got prego immediately after I got to 122 -130 . I’m on baby #3 & still work out but I plan on starting earlier than waiting the whole 4wks of pp. intermittent fasting & stay away from, sugar, bread & no rice or have it before 5pm really helped me . 15min cardio & 45min full body workout 2x a week & the other 4 broken down to arms, leg/glutes, abs & flexibility/ strength training . Yes work out 6 days a week or 5 but you will see faster / better results being consistent. . I do work out 2x a day & when I have my morning sickness I try to get a 30min walk in at the least

@Paris yesss that was my goal after I lost the baby . So worth it . Just be easy with yourself and enjoy the journey.

Make sure you are still getting enough calories and staying hydrated to maintain your milk supply. Otherwise, prioritize protein and exercise however you see fit! Every body is different and you’ll find what works for you!
