Percentile

I’m currently 24+2 weeks with my boy and girl twins. We had our growth scan today and baby girl is measuring small (on the 9th percentile weighing 510g) and baby boy is measuring a little small but a good size (16th percentile weighing 629g). We have to be rescanned in 2 weeks time rather than 4 to check baby girls growth. I am petite myself (5’2 and quite small framed) so the consultant reassured us that we aren’t expected to have big babies. Just wondering if anyone else had a smaller baby that was healthy? Just needing a bit of reassurance as i am in a bit of distress :(

I’m not sure on the centiles while I was pregnant but my girl was born in the 9th centile and it was never an issue 🤷🏼‍♀️ she was 1 week early and 6lb 4.5oz, she breastfed every hour for the first 7 months so she didn’t take long to shoot up into the 85th centile 😅 my friends little one was in the last centile and also never had any issues, some babies are just small I wouldn’t be worried 🩷

@Lauryne you’ve eased my mind so much!! sounds like she was a healthy weight also🤩that’s what we were told - not to worry they’ve just got to be cautious rather than disregard and that everyone is different shapes and sizes♥️

I had gestational diabetes so had extra scans. Every scan my little boy was measuring over 91st centile and they were pushing for an induction because they were convinced he was going to be 4-4.5kgs. I refused and baby boy arrived at 3.5kgs. The scans are not always accurate. Trust your gut x

I didn't have twins but my daughter was measuring small and they kept saying that her legs were very short so they gave me extra growth scans and tests. She ended up being 7lb when born at 39+6 so not small at all and her legs were fine 🙈 they worried me so much! She's now 1 year 9 months and petite, she's only in 9-12 clothes and some 12-18 month clothes but they are sometimes too big bless her. Good luck x

When I was pregnant with my daughter they always told me she was going to be big, at 37 weeks she was measuring big, they estimated her to be around 8lb, she was born a week later weighting 6lb😂 so it’s not always correct, my daughter never had any issues she’s always been on the smaller side however me and her dad are on the smaller side. She’s now 2 and a half and she’s doing amazing however she’s still wearing 9-12 month clothing😂 but she’s just petit and there’s never been a concern about her size so I honestly wouldn’t worry, it’s only an estimate so it’s not always 100% xxx

my daughter was always measured on the low side, around 10-15%. i had regular growth scans but they never found any issues (they checked for blood flow in the cord, blood flow in the placenta, fluid levels etc), she was just small. they wanted to induce at 40 weeks but i declined and she was born on her own at 40+5, perfectly healthy and bigger than the scans said she would be. she’s a petite girl but still completely healthy. take the measurements with a grain of salt. they are inaccurate a lot of the time. plus you still have so much time for them to grow! do your best not to stress over it <3
