Cockroach at Daycare

Looking to get others opinions. I was at my son's daycare today and I saw a cockroach by the kitchen. I pointed it out to staff and they mentioned they've been doing treatments and seemed surprised to see it. Do you think I should be alarmed? Would you switch daycare due to that? I'm otherwise happy with the daycare. Thanks!

That is absolutely disgusting and i can’t believe that you’re doubting that it could be a problem they could send all the children home with them in their bags!! They could nest and spread through all the apartments these children live in!! You have to talk to the highest up person you can go to and force them to make the staff care or find new staff. Absolutely wrong don’t ever be okay with pests I’ve seen more yellow conditional passes in restaraunts than i ever seen. These people farm the roaches and appreciate them im almost nauseous right now

Cockroaches often come in to daycare/school settings from someone’s home. It could have been in a backpack and taken a ride into your son’s classroom. This happens more often than you may think. If the daycare is treating the problem, there’s really nothing more that can be done. I personally wouldn’t switch daycares over this, as this could happen at any daycare/school and is the sad reality of some of our kiddos living in bug infested environments. What I would do is ensure that I checked my child’s belongings before bringing them into the house to make sure no critters took a ride home.

They are in all the Toronto schools anyway...

@Lauren but the way they reacted though. They said they get exterminations. It seems like they aren’t phased

@Kate there’s a difference between hiding in the walls and them participating in daily activities

People really think they’re forced to participate in all of these things. My daughter is in a home daycare. There is always only ever one other child there. The house does not have roaches. There’s rodents AROUND the house but there’s no evidence of them just hanging out inside the house. We all have choices

@Lizete you think they are hiding in walls at schools and aren't seen?? I think you are in for a shock.

@Kate i don’t think. I know it’s the case in some

@Lizete ok lol
