Rough scan

I had my 20 weeks scan yesterday and I know it’s a more thorough scan but the guy was SO rough and pushed so hard I’m actually all bruised on my lower stomach ! Is that normal? It’s so bad I keep getting a stich like pain near my pelvic bone if move my leg to fast aswell, that’s where the bigger bruise is !

I had this with my first, and it took a couple days for the aches to subside! I am mid size and definitely carry weight on my belly so felt they had to press super hard xx

@Jess exactly the same with me he had to push extra hard to get through to see her ! Didn’t help she was in the wrong position either 🤦‍♀️😂 Thankyou ! Xx

Oh god im dreading mine my 12 week one was so sore

I think this is quite normal as it was the same for me when I had my son 2 years ago, they had to really push deep & it hurt a lot but I had to firm it so they don’t think I’m being a baby when that’s nothing compared to childbirth 😂 I actually forgot what it felt like this I saw this post & now I’m dreading my 20 week scan next week

@Tasnim i felt as if she was going to rip my c section scar open lol

@Lisa that sounds so terrible 😣

Same with me @ 12wks. I felt like swearing

@Tasnim sorry for reminding you !😂 I’ve just never felt anything like that before my last scans they were rough but nothing like that ! I thought he was trying to shift around my guts

I had this with my last ones on my other babies, I felt thoroughly tenderised after! Especially with my 1st took them like 3 goes of me going in and out over a couple hours doing all sorts to get him moving and I still ended up having to go back 2 weeks later 🥴

I had this with my 12 week scan. They pushed so hard I ended up admitted to hospital a week later with severe pains and still had bruising and they said they had caused trauma to my right side and was on bed rest for a few days

I don’t wanna sound rude but if you have extra stomach fat it hurts more because they have to push deeper. With my first I was a size 8 and it never hurt really bit uncomfortable but not painful. But this time I’m around a size 14/16 and Jesus Christ I had my private scan and it was so painful!!! Felt like they were gonna go through me😂

Ah damn I have this to look forward to in a few weeks. Had my 12 week scan done privately abroad and the woman said I was “too fat” for the ultrasound so she used the internal one. Guess the NHS don’t have that so it’s bruising time 🙈

@Kathryn NHS have the equipment for that but it's usually used for early pregnancy where they can't see clearly enough from the stomach. I had internal scans at 6 and 8 weeks as I'd been having some spotting

literally though! I had my 12 week nhs scan and it was painful. I have my 20 week next week and im dreading it. i felt so bruised after, she was pressing down super hard and then when i go to my private scans she’s so gentle i genuinely think it was so unnecessary to put that much pressure on my stomach🥲 I actually don’t think it’s down to the stomach fat you carry im a size 10 and only have a small bump.

Had my yesterday - was a bit sore yes
