Colostrum

How much colostrum should I take to hospital? I didn’t collect much first pregnancy and totally forgot to take it to hospital with me. But this time I’ve got over 50ml

I’ve just asked my midwife this today and she said about 10-20mls. If baby needs more, to ask someone to bring more over just so it’s not wasted xx

Have you done this with a pump or hand expressing ? X

This is so good I was never able to collect this much xx

@Georgie fab thanks! X

@Laura I hand expressed for the first few days then used a pump (which is not recommended) but I’m 39+4 so if I go into labour I’m happy 🤣x

@Amy the pic was over 48 hours x

Well done! Which pump did you use? Xx

@Laura I just got a cheap one from Amazon, about £35 I think. I can send you the link xx

I’ve got 150ml and read some other posts to take about 25ml? But im not sure either so following for clarification 😅

@Agnes I’m seeing my midwife in the morning I’ll ask her opinion too x

@Agnes I’ve been pumping for a few days now and managed to get about 500mls so far but when I spoke to the midwife this afternoon she just said to take about 10-20mls and if more is needed to get my partner to go collect it as it could go to waste and hopefully baby will latch anyway! I would defo ask your own midwife as well for their opinion xx

Amazing effort!!!!!

@Georgie I don’t wanna bring up the subject with my midwife yet because I’m only 34 weeks and not supposed to be expressing 🫣 but I wanna start packing what I’m gonna take, in case I need cooler bag with ice, or a mini fridge etc

@Agnes my midwife said 10-20mls too x

@Ellie that’s good to know, thank you!
