Anterior placenta

So I had my 20 weeks scan yesterday and on the notes under placenta it says anterior but the midwife never said anything to me about it and told me everything was fine, does that mean I will have an anterior placenta the whole pregnancy? I’m just so confused

They don’t see it as a concern unless it becomes low lying, it just hides the baby’s movements as baby hides behind it but works the exact same so don’t worry about it ☺️ x

Yeah your placenta won’t move now so it’ll be anterior. Nothing to worry about just that you may not feel baby until 24+ weeks. I have one and felt him from 17 though so everyone’s different x

To my understanding anterior and posterior placentas are just where the placenta sits in the uterus it doesn’t affect the pregnancy at all but it will affect how strong and how fast you can feel kicks from outside the belly anterior should just mean the placenta is in the front of the uterine wall so it will take a little longer to feel the kicks because there’s a little extra cushion between the belly and the baby but it’s completely common!

Yes you will have an anterior placenta the whole pregnancy, I had it too. It’s nothing to worry about really, it doesn’t affect you or your baby’s health or childbirth. Only side effect is that you might feel less kicks from lo because he/she is kicking against the placenta

I had a anterior placenta with my daughter and it stayed that way throughout, the only thing I noticed was I felt her movements a bit later than others but as she got bigger I felt her all the time, no one was concerned, I had her at 41+5, 1.5 hour labour and she’s 5 months now ❤️x

Just means your placenta is at the front rather than the back so movements and stuff will be ‘cushioned’ and not commonly felt as strong as they would be if placenta was posterior, nothing to worry about x

Yeah, I have an anterior with baby 1 and a posterior with baby 2. It doesn’t move, it just means it’s on your front like a cushion between your skin and baby. It’s totally fine, it’s 50/50 where it forms. Doesn’t affect your pregnancy at all other than anterior can meet you feel movements later on in the pregnancy.

Thankyou girls ! This is my first pregnancy so anything I don’t understand just worries me more then it needs to 🤦‍♀️😂 I have felt movement and I’m 20+1 so hopefully I will continue to just feel it faintly for now just for peace of mind she’s okay 💖

I had this also, when I asked about this I was told most people are actually anterior. I was feeling babies movements from 14 weeks I didn’t even notice the difference.

My placenta is also anterior - it’s not anything to be concerned about as it’s pretty common and shouldn’t cause you any issues. There are even some positives to it such as baby can be more protected by it.

It's usually about 50/50 whether it will be posterior or anterior 😊 so perfectly normal! You may feel movement slightly later, but mines anterior, I'm nearly 31 weeks now and feel a lot of movement
