Booking appointment

Can someone explain what happens at the booking appointment (first midwife appointment) Like it seems strange to me that we have to wait until 12 week (unless pay for private scan) to get anything solid there’s an actually baby growing inside us 😭🤦🏻‍♀️

It’s mainly paper work. A lot of questions on family health from both sides. ❤️

I just had mines today! They asked about family history from both parents side. Housing situation etc, if any financial struggles. Informed me about the screening for babies and prescribed medications I’m on. Any vitamins I should be taking. Info about future appointments and vaccinations. They took my weight and height, took bloods, urine sample and gave me my flu vaccine as well! It’s a lot of information to take in! Make sure you drink plenty fluids for if they take bloods and urine sample

@Amy Hi what do they take the bloods for? does the blood test confirm pregnancy?

Blood test is to confirm your blood type and to screen for infectious diseases that may need treatment before baby is born or that may be passed to baby. I don’t think they actually confirm pregnancy x
