What is a SCH?

What actually *is* a sub chronic hematoma? Is that what I have? Like is that just the name for the bleed? There’s a bleed in my womb, outside of the pregnancy sac (I’m 9 weeks) bigger than the baby and they can see it on the scan and I have had quite a bit of heavy bleeding a few times. On the scan report it mentions this but they’ve never mentioned it to me? I kinda missed my chance for asking questions at the hospital coz as soon as we seen baby’s heartbeat again I burst out crying 🙃

So there are two layers to the sac, the chorion and the amnion. The chorion is the outside layer that is nearest to your uterus. A sub chorionic haematoma is a bleed between the chorion and the uterus. There can be lots of reasons for bleeding and it can come from multiple places, but from your description it does sound like SCH. They usually go away on their own, mine had gone by my 12 week scan 😊

@Charley thank you. I’m just so lost with it and never seem so ask the right questions when I’m there. It’s just so scary just now :/

Charley explained it very well and it can happen if you’re having to take injections like inhixa due to a previous loss or a blood disorder etc, it’s normally nothing to worry about and may cause you to have old blood type bleeding but if it’s fresh blood then seek emergency help asap x

Just how Charley explained it! I had one, and I bled on n off till around 16 weeks, each time I had a bleed they scanned me for reassurance, and could see it on each scan getting smaller and smaller 😊 x

@Victoria it’s been fresh blood every time it’s been heavy (except the last time last time it was bright red with like black bits in it) I have went to hospital with it every time unless it was just spotting but I get so overwhelmed when I’m there I don’t ask the right questions I’m just relieved when I see that baby’s okay

@Josee so far I was on holiday so it wasn’t my local hospital that scanned me the first 2 times but my partner said it looks like it’s getting smaller but idk I’m just so nervous about it. So I just keep going back everytime it happens? Rn seems to be weekly/fortnightly

I bled around every 5 day, fresh red blood and even clots at 9 weeks, they said that the body can absorb it, or will bleed till it’s gone. After around 10 weeks, I noticed it was less and less till it completely stopped
