Going out with baby

Does anyone else really struggle to get out with their baby? I feel so guilty that we don’t go places very often but I have really bad social anxiety and don’t drive. We’ve just moved house and there are so many baby groups etc. where we live that I’d love to go to, but unless I have someone with me I find them really intimidating. Not sure how I can get better :/

Maybe find one where you don’t need to interact with people so like rhyme time at the library or somewhere.

Honestly just go, I go everywhere on my own with my toddler and have since he was weeks old. Once you’ve got your confidence you’re unstoppable! Majority of mams are so lovely and understanding 💕

I struggle with going but on the other hand I know how much it affects my mental health being home. I go on a walk and talk group once a week and to the library for a bounce and rhyme and to change her books. If you happen to be Worcester area I'm happy to meet to be a friendly face x

I feel exactly the same!!!! Weirdly, just moved as well and dont drive either!

I think, first and foremost, try to get your license and maybe share the car at first if you can, like early marriage I had to drop off Hubby at the train station for work and pick him up but I was able to drive around all day taking my baby out coz I have a car. Granted, some cities don’t need a car to get around so in that case, just know that literally every other mum there is in the exact same boat is coming to groups alone and at first felt intimidated too but they overcame their fear and went the first time so the next times is much much easier. There’s not many mums that actually come w someone. And the baby bounce sessions at the library don’t need mum interaction- there’s a librarian entertaining the babies you don’t need to chat to anyone if you don’t want to. As opposed to mothers groups where you do- that is set up so mums can talk and socialise and actually make friends. I go to both.

I was the same exact way ! I just dove in and stepped out my comfort zone even while anxious. Eventually after a few times of going out, I am much more comfortable going out with groups or alone time to a library or park or something. Just give it a shot ! It will benefit both you and baby greatly.

My baby is mean so I struggle. I get embarrassed when he is yelling and hitting or throwing food. I don’t mind taking care of him and trying to calm him down but I never go out alone. I have to have someone with me or I’d never eat or be able to do what I went out to do.

@Victoria this is like me! My little boys going through a slapping stage and when he can't have what he wants it's game over so I'm always anxious to go out alone with him, I wish I did go out more as he's so active we run and up for hours playing but feel bad as though I can do more but also it's the mental state I just feel like I can't be bothered as I'm already mentally drained

You get better by starting somewhere. Just book the thing that you think you could like the most. And make yourself go. It’s the only way. You CAN progress either way this. But you need to take the steps toward that.

Thank you everyone 🥰 I’ve decided I’m going to go to rhyme time at the library on Tuesday morning, no excuses!! Will start from there!
