I have an appointment with a “feeding specialist” at 36 weeks as was contacted to arrange this by my community chikdcare centre. Is this the same as the healthcare visit/antenatal visit?

I originally had a letter about a healthcare visitor coming to my home to discuss pregnancy.. however i phoned and told them id moved house outside of their zone. They said they would contact the relevant team and someone would be in touch. I haven’t had anyone contact me about this since, but recently had a phone call about making an appointment with a “feeding specialist”. Im just wondering if this is the same thing or not as I cant find any information online.

It sounds like this is something completely different. I also feel that maybe they’ve got this wrong/mixed-up, as I’m unsure why you need to go and see a feeding specialist at 36 weeks? Unless maybe you’re PEG fed etc x

Had you let them know prior you will be fully breastfeeding? The only team i had at that time frame was the breastfeeding specialist team for support before i gave birth x Also can you contact the old health visitor to see if you have been definitely referred to new team x

I'm 31 weeks and had a text this week from an 'infant feeding peer support worker' saying I could book onto either a group face to face session or an online one in the next few weeks, but it's not 1:1 support. My midwife said it's offered to all women in Sheffield apparently x

I am not PEG fed, nor have I told anyone my feeding preferences for baby! I lost the letter from the original health visitor sadly. It is definitely a 1:1 session with this specialist as I was able to decide day/time and whether I wanted it online or in person.

Oh right, definitely go to it as it sounds like it would be really helpful, your HV appointment will be after the baby is born and you’ll get that through once they’re here, not now, as they can’t assume when baby will come x
