Measuring big

Has anyone measured big then went in for a scan and baby turned out to be within normal range?

the exact same happened to me! my baby's been consistently measuring on the 90th and 97th percentiles everytime i've had my bump measured so i had a growth scan last friday and they said she's measuring perfectly and exactly where she should be at this stage so i was very confused 🤣

I measured 7lb 3oz at 36 weeks, baby boy was born at 41+2 spontaneous labour and came out weighing 8lb 2oz. He was very much all length and head😂 they did say my placenta was 'gritty' (although I don't smoke) so I think in the last few weeks it probably started to deteriorate slightly which probably slowed his growth in the last 4 weeks x

honestly, this bump measuring was useless for me. Belly always perfect size or even a bit bigger side, little one born full term and weighed 2.8kg, teeny tiny baby !

Yep, this is me! My baby was off the chart at last week's midwife appt. They got me in for a growth scan that day, and she was perfectly fine. The midwife thought I had excessive fluid around her, but nothing whatsoever. She's was estimated to be 7lb 11oz, please don't worry. It's hard to, I know, and I was so relieved when I walked out the growth scan appt. But it was bittersweet cause I got to see her little face 🥹 xx

37 weeks measuring 39 is ok. My midwife said up to 2cm is all good and she doesn't give a flying fudge about it anyway as it is outdated. All it takes is a big wee of the baby and you not going to the loo before and u got extra bump ❤️ Scan would be more accurate but still a bit off

I've had both. Measured small..baby was measuring slightly above average. Went in 4 days later and she measured me as having grown 5cm in 4 days. Which would have put me as having jumped from 55th to over 99th centile within days 🙄 It was never plotted as it was within the 2 weeks window.... Next appointment smack on. Now been measuring smack on the numbers for the rest of pregnancy. 2 growth scans and baby was 65th centile and absolutely fine. That extra 5cm she come up with never made a reappearance!

I was measuring at the 90th percentile and then there was a small drop of growth ( likely because baby dropped and I had different midwife taking the measurement). I got growth scan and baby was measuring just below 50th percentile at 40 +1. Can only say these measurements are very inaccurate and there’s no point to worry 😊

Yes this happens 90% of the time. It’s sooo rare that bump measurements correlate to baby size. It’s a really bad way to estimate fetal size and should be scrapped if I’m being honest 🙂

Yes. This is me: https://www.instagram.com/p/C_jEqRqNNfK (Btw kemi's account is definitely worth a follow!) Was the latest measurement done by a different midwife? Were you laying more upright? Apparently my pubic bone is higher than expected so it throws some midwives off if they don't find the right part to measure from. I had a midwife suddenly measure me huge and I just knew in my gut she hadn't measured me accurately so I declined growth scans, and then my next measurement lined up with the earlier ones, so they decided to ignore that measurement in the end. Fundal height measurements vary massively and even scans still have something like a 30% error margin, so it's all just best guesses. You know your body and your baby best

At 33 weeks they said baby was in the 85th percentile, I’m now 38 weeks and he isn’t growing as much as he should be and weighing 6lb 4oz atm- they will induce me next week if he’s still small x

@Gabi 38 +4 days i was. Also i actually didnt go to the loo before she measured me! Lol so mustve been that

Sorry maybe I don't understand the chart it seems off and totally different than the layout of mine 👀👀 Basically if you 38+4 you want to be between 36.5 and 40.5cm as I have been told by my midwife. My whole pregnancy I was on the 50th percentile, used to measure bang on the week I was, then started measuring 1cm less (34 weeks, 33cm, 36 weeks, 35cm and so on) on my last apt at 38 weeks I was exactly 38cm so 3cm jump in 3 weeks which moved me to 75th percentile and midwife commented that's normal that towards the end the tum grows more (TUM not the baby) 🙌🏼🙌🏼😊

We had the opposite issue, baby was measuring 50th percentile from 28 weeks and she was born 9lb 8oz at 41 weeks 🙈 don’t think it’s the best predictor of size xx
