Fireplace baby proofing

You could cut pool noodles and make bumpers you could secure ones on the bottom around too so there’s no way to hit corners and little chance to hit brick prob won’t look the best but don’t need a gate unless you want to🤷‍♀️

Idk how diy you are but you can get a thick mattress foam, cut it to the height of the brick then add fabric to it that you like. Make 3 blocks of it so it goes down the sides and stands on its own. I see a double door way to maybe add a strap that goes around the wall? Or maybe try velcro. The strap would be low enough to not cause too much recognition to guest but would keep the foam against the brick better in my opinion. For removing add a buckle or 2

We have similar but not as tall. Our local market had off cuts of foam which we covered in a sheet and taped to the stone
