Growth Scan - advice please

Had a growth scan this evening due to reduced movements, I am 30+3 and my baby weighs 3lb 4oz and is on the 13th percentile. His head and abdomen are on the normal line but his femur length is the lower side of normal. My husband is now so anxious there’s something wrong but they did say his arms and legs were straight with good bone density and since the 20 week scan have grown ‘on track’. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Every single post I've seen about growth scans has mentioned femur length being lower than normal. Mine included at 20 weeks! I saw on someone's post in The Heavyweight Midwife group that they were told that femur length is always a tricky one because it can vary so much depending on baby's position and the sonographer doing the measurements. So try not to worry too much, if they had any concerns you'd have been sent to have a consultants review afterwards.

At my 12 week scan my baby’s head was measuring in the 7th percentile, and at the 20 week scan it was in the 11th. Everything else was measuring 20 percentiles higher. My next scan isn’t until 36 weeks. No one was very worried about baby’s head, and they’re growing fine :) Midwives, sonographers, obstetricians - their job is to get you and baby through this safely. I promise you, if they were worried about your baby they’d have let you know, or you’d be having other tests or seeing other people.

My babies femur length has always been slightly behind too but no one has ever raised concern. Estimated weight was 3lb 2oz at my 30 weeks scan x

I posted this on someone else’s question earlier - hope it helps xx Hiya! Not sure if this helps but I’m 30 weeks today & at my 28 week midwife appointment they said baby had gone from 30th to 5th percentile and sent me for a growth scan. Sonographer wasn’t too concerned and said he was on 12 percentile but was worried about femur length (measuring 11th percentile so a little bit higher) so sent me down to have scan reviewed by a doctor. The doctor told me it was all a load of nonsense and that depending how baby was laying and how the leg was tilted that it’s really hard to measure the femur bone accurately. Plus I’m only 5foot so baby unlikely to have long legs🤣x

I had a scan earlier today! Also said the same!!! It can depend a lot on babies position and I wouldn’t stress too much. I’m having another scan in a few weeks to check it again but apart from that, they didn’t seem concerned at all

Mine was exactly the same, normal head and abdomen but short legs and weighed 2.5lb at 29 weeks - they had no concerns. My OH and I are short so it’s not unexpected!

I did an ultrasound and showed the length was 2 weeks behind, I freaked out and had another scan 2 days later (at a different location) showed it was measuring 2 weeks ahead. Im 6ft and both her dad & I are tall so could be possible her legs are long. But I realized it takes millimeters (mm) to measure different weeks. Don’t even worry

Had scan at 30 week, the head was on 94th abdo 86th and femurs 57th efw 3lb 11. I think femurs always seem to track lower x
