Bathtime routine

Please can you share your bath time routines? I really struggle with ours... we have a shnuggle bath seat which is good because my baby can't tip forward or escape but it also makes it hard to wash her with a cloth, as I can't get to her bum. I also don't know what to do with her to entertain her, I find it stressful and she never seems very happy. Getting her out is always a mess as as soon as I lay her down on a towel to wrap her up she screams, but when I've tried holding the towel to scoop her out of the bath she gets tangled and it doesn't cover her so she is cold on the way to the nursery to get dressed. Please please share what products you use, the order that you get them in and out of the bath etc (for example, do you bring a mat into the bathroom to undress them on/wrap them in a towel on, do you just scoop them up in a towel etc)

We have a bathtub that our LO sits in, and it has a non-slip bottom, so he just sits and supports himself. His bathtub is inside ours, so I just kneel down on the side to wash and support if he should fall (we've just been a period where he kept trying to stand in the bath, so there was a lot of 'you sit in the bath' and then helping him to sit down) We usually get the water ready first, then undress him on our bed, taking him and the towel to the bathroom. In the bath, he has some toys - a duck, an octopus that lights up and spray water, and some pouring toys. He plays for a bit, and then we wash his hair, and then his body. When rinsing his hair, I use my arm as support behind his neck, and he almost floats, so I can rinse out the shampoo. This position also allows me to was his bum. I tend to have put the towel on the floor , so when I take him out, I put him there, wrap him up, and take him back to our bed, where I dry him, cream him, brush teeth and put pj on. This works really well for us, for now 🙂

I’m sorry to hear this time is so stressful! Is she not a fan of the bath at all? Like when she’s in? My boy always seemed to like it. And he’s actually still in his baby bath tub (Nuby) inside our big one. I add bubble bath and a floating frog, though he most likes the sponge to play with! We do some hidey Boo, and some waterfalls with the water. And he splashes a lot. It takes about 10-15 mins. But I too can’t get to his bum easily. I lift him out onto a folded towel then wrap his towel around him and carry him to his nursery where we try en moisturise and get his pjs on. He can get agitated quite soon though so I have to make this as quick as possible x

I have my baby in the normal bath with a bathmat. I have a changing mat in the bathroom with a large towel on top to set them on straight away. My LO seems fine with this.

Honestly I bath my girl in the kitchen sink whilst she still fits as it's easier on my back. We don't play during bath time as it's time to wind down and to wash. To get her out I scoop her into her towel then wrap her in her dressing gown, we then go into the living room where I put on baby TV and sit with her on my knees so she has my body heat and we chill for 5/10mins before I dress her for bed.

We’ve got an inflatable bath with a stopper halfway down to stop baby from sliding down. You can get under their bum as well as there’s a sort of pillow attached so they can recline a bit but not slide under the water. We’ve got a wet room with a fixed seat so I put the towel on the seat and then sit him on it and wrap him up

We’ve got a towel with a hook to go around the neck of the parent, if you google baby towels - they come up. That makes it easier to wrap them up. I got a ‘fountain scoop’ toy for her, a few frogs, and a half empty travel shampoo bottle is quite interesting as it bobs around. We make sure there’s lots of foam - then you can hide toys under it for them to find. We go to swimming so I try to keep with the queues we learned there ‘splash splash’ when she splashes with her hands and ‘kick kick’ when she does with her feet. There are also toys you can stick to walls. Hope this helps! Also, if it’s stressful, cut bath time short and gradually build back up. It’s better for it to be a non-stress short thing, than a long stressful one

I have a bath kneeler and elbow pad rest which helps. I terms of washing his bum before I sit him down I hold him over my forearm so he is standing then eitb the other hand I soap and wash his back bum snd backs of his legs quick rinse then sit him down. I have an angelcare bath which I've turned the other way round so he sits innit. I had a bubble machine but he just ate the bubbles so now he only has form puzzle which he just chews on . Somtimes I jist sit him in there close to the tap and let him play with the running water. Once we are done I rest the towel on the elbow rest, lift him up and sit him on the towel then wrap and lift. He's fine with this. Hope this helps. I'll post a picture of the mat.

Thanks all. I'm going to try and do things a bit differently, might but one of the towels that goes around your head, and will get some toys. She doesn't hate the bath, but just seems frustrated and wants to climb out or tries to eat the dirty water, which I then find stressful, then she hates being wrapped in the towel after

Cuddledry towel is good, apron you put on to get them out, then you can dry them whilst holding them.
