How is everyone calorie counting?

Hey, so I've just started calorie counting but I have no clue how to do it for when I'm making big meals or eating from a batch I've made. Would I put all the ingredients in and then divide it by how much I've eaten? I feel like that's not massively accurate but not sure how else to do it

Figure out the whole meal then weigh your portion and figure out or that's what we do 😊

When it comes to a batch meal it's very hard to be accurate. You can write down the calories/ingredient/portion size and divide it out to the number of portions in the meal. Let's say you get the cheesier portion or the portion with less veggies then your count is messed up. What I have found to work better is to make things in batches that can be counted easier. Ex: big batch of cooked chicken or pasta. I always roast or cook a big batch of veggies to go with the meal. This way I can portion out the pasta or meat and the veggies are for seconds if anyone is still hungry. A nutritionist told me that meat and starches should only ever take up 1/4 of your plate and veggies 1/2 your plate. This way you count would be 1 portion of chicken, I portion of pasta and all the veggies. I hope that makes more sense.

I use a really good app from a lady called Amy its called bossfitamy her app gives you the amount of calories to take and you can track your food as well and get work outs too

I use My Fitness Pal and my dietician tracks my intake

I use my fitness pal, go into my meals, recipes & foods and in there create a recipe. As long as you can write how much of each thing you put in, you then put how many servings your getting out of it and it does all the calculations to tell you all your macros and calories per serving 😊

What I do with batch meals is just weigh everything for the recipe and pop it in mynetdiary app and then for example if I know I’m having half for lunch today and half for lunch tomorrow I’ll just pop 0.5 in the app and it generates the calories for me. I do the same for my other meals. If me and my husband are having the same. I just weigh the items and then half this as I know he will have half and I the other half. I hope that makes sense 😊 I found it got easier the more I do it as I have similar meals each week so can just copy the meals over. My net diary lets you scan the barcode on items too so if you want to calorie count you just quickly scan the item by barcode. Also I only use the free version and have found this has always been enough for me.
