Aches and pains in joints

Since giving birth back in May, myjoints and ligaments have been achy and 5month pp they are still so achy. It happens when I sit down then get up. Going up the stair or getting up from the floor are the worst. I feel like I need pain killers every time to keep the achiness at bay. I thought these sort of aches and pains would disappear. Is anyone still experiencing this?

Yes, I have been to a woman's osteopath for an internal/external examination. It has helped alot, she advised its due to muscles going into shock and basically not relaxing and the nerves are hightened causing pain.

My knees are horrendous 😭 I saw a therapist and they gave me some exercises but also told me to stop changing baby on the floor etc which has helped x

@Megan ohhh right! Did they suggest any solutions please? I’m just so tired of being achy and with the lack of sleep from my LO sleep regression it feels like my body is giving up on me!

I've heard that if you're breastfeeding you stay more achy for longer, don't know how true it is, but I seem to remember it easing off last time I stopped breastfeeding xx

@Molly oh okay thanks molly.. that’s difficult not to be on the floor with them though ..they always advise all playtime and tummy time on the floor.. so that must be tricky?

Exactly that! However just minimising the amount of time on the floor (I just started changing her nappy on the sofa or changing unit) has made a big difference

@Cate ohh that’s possible..I exclusively breastfeed so that could be contributing then.. I hope I can find a solution soon as I don’t plan to stop pumping anytime soon

@Molly ah I see makes sense! Thanks and I hope your knees get better sooner rather than later

My wrists knee and back are actually killing me.they say BF babies take nutrition from mother's bone which can cause pain and low nutrients in mother's body. I really hope these pain go away soon.i had to wear wrist support for my pain

@Mariyam sorry to hear! I totally feel you pain.. carrying my LO is so tiring and sore as she gets heavier

Yes I’m still achey especially when getting up and down too (eg walking downstairs after a night in bed) but i formula feed and still have the same issue! Looks like there is a few of us who do x

@Lauren oh boi sorry to hear you also going through it! Can’t wait for it to go away. How do you cope ? Are you doing any exercises or take anything that helps?

OMG I feel like this too!! It's kind of a relief to know it's fairly common, I feel like my body should be stronger than this! Gosh it's so tough what women have to go through!!! @Megan is a women's osteopath something your GP can refer you to? Or do you just have to find it privately? Cheers

I've had a load of bloods done recently cause I've felt so achy and my iron is on the low side, so it could be that, I do take a breastfeeding multivitamin which is supposed to help with milk production and nutrients, but I ran out and defo feel worse for not having it, so ordered more! Lack of sleep doesn't help either, I feel like I've always got some sort of cold 🙈
