I never read to my bump but I would always find myself having full conversations with my belly 😂
If I didn’t read I would sing or just read something that I find interesting out loud to baby. My mum used to read the newspaper to me 😂
I always felt a bit too self conscious so fully impressed here! I am a reader and loved the idea of this but couldn't get past it!
I did this and regularly spoke to her, sang rhymes etc
I sing, so hopefully, she can hear my voice I do talk to bump when I'm at home
I talk to my bump while at home as well. Especially when he kicks as I know he is awake. 😊 I don't think he'd enjoy my current reading... Bit of a heavy topic, reading about navigating / dealing with emotionally immature parents. 😅 But it's to ensure I'll be a good mum and breaking generational traumas. Maybe I'll start reading some easy reads to him when I'm done with that one!
I have two different books I read to my little boy bump I read Winnie the Pooh and a bedtime book so every night before I go to sleep I ready the bedtime book I’m now 24 weeks and he is starting to kick me when I don’t read it it’s like it’s a routine already lol
Yeah I just play him music & speak to him I wouldn’t say he responded until I was like 22 weeks xx
I never did as it's not my thing but they definitely hear your voice all the time as you're talking throughout the day so I wouldn't worry about it if you don't find the time or have the natural inclination to do it.
I always talk to myself anyway so had an excuse to not look so crazy 😉
I never read, but I spoke to her and sang to her all the time. She is the only one that likes my singing voice now (and it’s awful) 😅 Definitely not silly trying to get your bubba to know your voice 🥰
My bubs loved my voice, so I brought belly buds! I'm actually selling them now with replacement adhesive if anyone is interested! https://www.vinted.co.uk/items/5050221535-belly-buds
@Aurélie this sounds so relatable. I think I’ll have to give this a try too
@Amy a bedtime book sounds like such a good idea

@Hannah this book is honestly so SO validating and makes me feel so seen and understood, like it was written for me. I definitely recommend it if it sounds relatable. It's really healing a big part of me at the moment as I always wondered why I was disappointed, frustrated and angry at my parents while I had (what I thought was) a fairly normal childhood.
@Hannah I have done it for so long when I have finished reading it he goes quite cos he knows mumma wants to go to sleep lol
Me and my husband have been reading to bump because we were told to talk to it for brain development and both find ourselves feeling a bit awkward talking to my belly... am I the only one who just doesn't know what to say to it? 😂 the book takes the pressure off and gives us something to say
@Zoe sometimes I try having conversations with bump too but yes, I often wonder what I’m supposed to say. Reading out loud doesn’t feel as silly but I suppose we’ll get used to it 😂
Yep we did 🥰 my fiancé read the LOTR books to our little one during my first pregnancy, and we’re going to do the same again now as we’re expecting our second 🥰
My midwife said the same thing to me, I’m 18 weeks. I don’t typically read a book but I do talk to baby all the time and I sing to her. Whenever I’m alone I’ll talk to her and tell her how healthy and strong she is. 💗💗
