Tongue tie release and recovery

My 14 week old had posterior tongue tie that was released yesterday, it was discovered as part of oral assessment due to being very fussy on bottle. She has been understandably very unhappy since the release and her feeds has reduced as pre warned, but when do they start feeling better? I know usually younger babies have this done, unfortunately my daughters was missed. How was recovery if your LO had it done?

Our boy had it at 4 weeks and honestly didn't notice much of a negative change other than the intense cry when it was done. Hope it gets better for your little one xx

@Hafiza so I have heard that when they are younger its a bit “easier”. When it was done she cried less than at vaccines but has been very unsettled and unhappy since 😩

I can imagine it's harder as they're older and can feel things more! But I'm sure it was for the best and hopefully soon your girl is back to her smiley self xx

Had it done first month, it wasn't too bad at all. I can't imagine getting it done so late, sorry it was missed. I imagine a few days of hell to a week and then all ok again 🤞

Did you have this done privately? I’m looking into having my little boys released (he’s 12 weeks).

@Beth yes privately. I felt really let down by NHS, our breastfeeding journey was cut short and now I know its probably tongue tie that contributed ( she lost 12% weight) and noone considered to check. I spoke to GP about NHS referral but was told its 4 months wait in my area and unless it severe they won’t do iit.
