Scared

Im so scared and idk what I’m looking for here. Maybe just some kind words/support? Thursday when for an echocardiogram for my 3 month old related to breathing problems. And didn’t find anything concerning that issue. But found possibly a fistula and another congenital heart defect. I honestly don’t know if I’m reading the report right. I reached out to the doctors but have heard virtually nothing yet. My mama heart hurts and I have so much anxiety.

I don't think there's a need to be alarmed. The patent foreamen is fairly common in babies and usually closes up on its own by age 1. The coronary/pulmonary fistula is often asymptomatic and can also resolve on its own, and if there are no symptoms then it may not even need treatment. The report doesn't comment on the severity of the fistula but given the breathing problems (if this is the cause) then an intervention may be needed. The prognosis is overall very good with treatment. Also I should add that if the doctors had serious concerns about the results being imminently dangerous, they would have already sent you to the hospital by now.

My little guy has blood cancer and we've had so so many doctors visits, we were in the hospital for his whole 3rd month. As someone who's had to trust doctors when things are really scary, it will be ok. No news is usually good news. My son has had echocardiograms too and breathing problems from his cancer so I understand the anxiety! Hang in there, the doctors are doing the things necessary to make sure your baby is healthy and thriving 💕

My daughter had breathing and heart complications when she was first born threw me in to a panic because you have to really trust doctors but you must do your own research and compare. I too don’t trust doctors so much but they are knowledgeable I just feel they can be a bit pushy when it comes to your child and pumping them up with meds.
