Meconium

How sticky was your babies first poop? My son is having GI issues and one of the questions the doctor asked was if he passed his meconium and I said yes. He pooped same day of birth but I've always heard meconium is extremely sticky and this poop just wiped right off my son's skin like any other poop so I'm wondering if maybe it wasn't?

My daughter inhaled hers in the womb.... So conveniently, I didn't have any of those diapers to change as she had to go into intensive care! (It was a bad case, she got it real deep). This isn't helpful for you though, but I didn't know that wasn't always the first poop.

My son's was super sticky but he was born at 40w1d and my daughters was too terrible and she was born at 41w1d. So I'm not sure if gestational age of babies matter? Was his poo black?

Pretty sticky and also very dark. Like black. It was very distinct and different from the poops that came a couple days later.

I've had 5, all of mine have had almost black, sticky meconium.. each one had different experiences of how much, how dark and how long it took to clear completely and become the runny seedy mustard yellow/greenish breastmilk poops. I'm curious if he's having gas? Straining? Arching? Are you BF or formula? How old is he? There's so much involved and it does take them a while before they learn the muscles to effectively pass gas and poo.. it can be scary as a new mom and drs don't often explain everything well. Sort of just hand you the baby and wish you luck 🤣

My sons was like a really dark green almost black looking and it was sticky but not how the doctors described it wiped right off they told me it would be hard to get off

Was black but wiped right off with cotton wall and hot water. Maybe it depends what you’re wiping with 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m guessing really bad but my husband was changing them for me since I couldn’t get up just yet due to having a c section
