We do a mix of both. £75 a day for nursery and £45 a day with a childminder. We have 15hrs free so use those against 2 childminders for 2days Fully pay 1 day a week nursery fee through tax free childcare ☺️
@Georgette how do you get the 15 free hours x
https://www.gov.uk/apply-free-childcare-if-youre-working We have it as working parents- our daughter is 2. Increases to 30hours when she is 3/4. I have attached the link; worth checking if you are eligible. Simply apply through gov uk, search for nursery’s and childminders that accept the free hours. - bare in mind that sometimes setting charge an added fee on top of the free hours to cover costs
Our nursery is £62 a day with all meals snacks nappies and wipes included, he does 3 days. We use the 15 free hours and it’s around £550 a month x
@Amelia helped a lot Thankyou x
@Georgette this is dependant on where int he UK you are. In Wales I read were not entitled to the free hours until the child is 3-4 years old x
Childminders are defo cheaper but they also take holidays and potentially sick days so that’s why we chose nursery. We do 1.5 days a week and use the funded hours which works out as 11 per week (stretched over the full year) and 20% tax free childcare. We pay around £200 a month x
@Amy that’s amazing! I hope we pay £200 compared to everyone else’s hundreds more 😅x
It varies massively depending on where in the UK you are. We pay £93 a day for our little boy to go to nursery (although we use tax free childcare and the 15 free hours to reduce that). Most childminders around us charge £8-10 an hour.
