Constipation from first time foods

I gave my 6 month old some food a day and a half ago, and she hasn't pooped since then. Any advice? I think the food was too complex digest. But I'm not sure what to do.

My almost 1 year old poops about every 3 days since eating more solids. Does she seem to be uncomfortable or straining like she is trying to poop but can't? You could try some prunes

@Anna thank you! She's notably gassy but doesn't seem uncomfortable

If you are giving him rice cereal, stop because it causes extreme constipation. Try oatmeal instead xo. Much better nutrients and gentler on the stomach

@Rosemary thank you! No cereals. I'm doing whole foods and homemade purees

My LO got constipated after starting solids, its completely normal, just from the change in foods. If you’re wanting to help little one along give them a prune puree (either homemade or shop bought) helps tones when mine is constipated.

I'll definitely give that a try soon. Is there a "too long" time? Just so I have a heads up. And would you stop purees until she poops?

I didn’t stop purees until she pooped, its just their stomachs getting sued to the new food so would do the same the next time you tried again anyway. Depends on every baby, like my LO never pooped everyday before she was every 2ish so it was once she hadn’t pooped for 4ish that i questioned it. They say on average if your baby hasn’t pooped in 1 week thats too long, so go for that as a ball park. If you’re worried, just give LO some Prunes now and see if it helps shift it. Fair warning if you baby hasn’t pooped yet since solids stared their poop changes a lot, it smells different and looks more like our poop. Just so you’re not worried by the change too much
