Child benefit

Hey, I am looking into applying for child benefit but I’m confused! I live with my husband who is earning and I am currently on maternity leave, I am receiving 90% pay in the first month and then SMP. When entering in earnings, am I entering earnings before maternity leave or do I need to calculate my earnings during maternity leave? Or do they work it all out for you? I just want to work out figures before I go through applying if I need to. Thanks in advance x

You can do the child benefit calculator on the gov website. It may help make it clearer for you xx

I applied it didn’t ask me for my exact earnings just asked if I earned under 60k a year

Following this because same 🫠. Xx

Same as @Claire when I did it it just asked if my partner or I earned more than 60k a year.

Before maternity.

I think it’s the higher earner’s projected earnings 6th April 2024 to 5th April 2025 as it’ll be the number on the higher earner’s P60 that you use if you have to do a tax return. The exact figure doesn’t really matter as long as it’s under the threshold. And even if it’s over you won’t need it until you do the tax return anyway.
