Water

Is it normal for your baby to still be coughing after everytime they drink water? Are you guys babies still learning or have they mostly mastered drinking water out of a sippy cup or straw (anything other than a bottle). We’ve tried multiple different cups and he doesn’t understand needing to tilt sippy cups upwards to have the fluid come down to get to him…. So he does better with straws, but over 50% of the time he drinks from a cup with a straw he ends up coughing. Is this still normal? I feel like so much fluid has to be getting into his lungs 😩 how are you guys babies doing?

Omg everything you just said word for word is my LG. I was wondering the same thing.

Me too

Our LO doesn’t understand straws, but everything she drinks she coughs.

We skipped the sippy and went straight to a straw cup at 6 months. He drinks from straws and open cups now at almost 14 months. Doesn’t ever cough, choke or nothing.

We use straws and open cups but he still coughs and chokes. He loves water so much and always drinks it way too quickly. I’m not worried, he’ll figure it out eventually lol

Thanks for the feedback ladies!! Sounds like we are kinda all dealing with the same thing. Sounds normal I guess…. Just have to keep on keeping on and exposing him to different things until he understands a bit better!

My baby does the same thing

We only do straw cups because she won’t lift it🤣 she coughs a lot still especially when she goes too fast

Sippy cups helped and we do a new water sippy cup everyday that's just out with our LO so he can play with and learn. The new fun game he plays is taking mouthfuls of water to then open up and let it run out of his mouth lol

I honestly would bring it up to the pediatrician I do not have this problem with my little tho but I would be concerned by this.
