Signs of colic or formula intolerance

Hey. What were peoples first signs and symptoms of their little one having colic or formula intolerance? I’m not sure if my little one is struggling with either one. I am going to phone the gp tomorrow to make an appointment to check.. I just feel guilty that I’m possibly causing him to suffer without realising

My little girl (2 months old) showed some symptoms that I thought were one or the other when she was born. She exhibited the following symptoms -vomiting after some feeds sometimes very large amounts - cramps -constipation -fussiness -signs of tummy pains We saw GP multiple times about it and they said if it was intolerance she’d not be gaining weight and she’d vomit every single feed So it was ruled to be mild colic. Since then we have been using infacol and it’s been a godsend x

Colic is not a tummy issue, colic just means crying for no known reason.

Colicky babies cry and just don't stop. It usually means they have a tummy ache. For my kid it was she had gas pain. But colic is just a catch all term for an inconsolable baby that is hurting for some unknown reason.

@Charley There’s always a reason… colic is just a term doctors give when they’re too lazy to find the root cause of baby’s crying. It’s usually internal, such as having a cow’s milk allergy

@Incognito colic is the name of crying for an unknown reason. If there's a reason, it's not colic.

I’ve just went through this with my one month old. From week one he would show discomfort and by week 2 this was intense pain and screaming almost 24/7. His bowel movements were allover the place and had a slight rash that would come and go (nothing alarming). I always had a feeling he had a milk allergy, but I was always told he’s fine, by gps. The crying and pain got out of hand, I couldn’t cope with it no more, but continued to be told by gp, ‘babies cry, it’s normal’. I’m just home from my local children’s hospital after him being diagnosed with CMPA, this was finally ruled out by blood in his poop. Horrible to know this could’ve been resolved weeks ago, and it took blood in his poop for anyone to take me seriously :( Agree with the above about colic… it usually means something else is going on and they are too lazy to figure it out! Go with your gut!
