Wee one is constipated - help!!

So my lo is constipated and has been for quite some time, we’ve tried laxido (too painful for her), lactulose - didn’t seem to do anything, all the p’s (pear, prune, plum etc), cut out dairy and gluten (in case of allergy) She doesn’t eat overly well at home - eats everything at nursery - will only eat vegetables if they are in a curry or sauces. Her bowel movements vary from anything to 6 a day that are weetabix like in texture and a nightmare to clean. Or one large hard poo a day but lots of trying to go throughout the day. I am genuinely at my wits end as to what to do. I’ve yet another app booked with the GP but I’m not holding out hope that it’ll help. I just know that something isn’t right 🥺🙁😫😫

I know you say you’ve cut out dairy and gluten in case of allergy but for our LO, fruit, petit filous (fromage frais) and weetabix get her moving every time! Weetabix with some full fat milk honestly are a god send for getting bowels moving 😂 always worth a try anyway…!

@Becky so she would always have weetabix and full fat milk, and then I changed to shredded wheat but neither made any difference 😔

Ah that sucks! I’d 100% get it checked out with your GP as you’ve said. You may find she does have an intolerance or is struggling to absorb certain nutrients. Anything fibrous should get her moving. If it isn’t then I’d be wanting it checked too so I don’t blame you! Don’t let the GP fob you off either when you go. Those who shout loudest and all that! Hoping you get an answer ❤️

@Becky thank you, I know. I’ve said I’ll take in a stool sample this time. This will be the 4th visit! Last time they asked me what did I think it was 🙃🙃🙃

Try avacado, oranges (easy peel) these get my LO to poo. As above weetabix is great too. Sometimes alot liquid helps some warm milk.

Hi there. We had a recurring issue of constipation with our twins. There was lots of painful straining and crying. Went to the GP several times and they kept prescribing lactose and movicol. These helped when taken regularly but when stopped it would be an issue again. We tried boiled and cooled water first thing in the morn...and also replaced their breakfast with an oat smoothie ( 1 apple, 30g oats, pinch cinnamon, half a date, 150 ml water, optional egg white all cooked then blended with 270ml milk/alt for 2servings ) ... This helped. We're still cautious about feeding them too much yoghurt and bananas which seems to create hard poo.
