Miscarriage bleeding. No help from drs

Hi, I fell pregnant and was meant to be due in April, I lost my baby 4 weeks ago, drs only spoke over the phone, I've had no tests, blood tests or scans to even confirm a miscarriage. Just a Dr over the phone agreeing with me that it's a miscarriage. I've been bleeding heavy for 4 to 5 weeks now. I'm still in pain. I fainted from loss of blood. I've called drs 4 times since and keep getting told basically deal with it and keep pregnant testing. It's nearly 5 weeks since I lost my baby and still a strong positive. I'm loosing a lot of blood still and no one is actually helping me or advising me. I don't know what to do 😭 is it normal for me to still be bleeding this long after and still have bad belly pains? I feel like I'm annoying the drs by phoning every week to just be told the same thing but I feel like something is wrong?

Go to a&e, I had this and it was an incomplete miscarriage and can be very dangerous

Get yourself seen in A&E. Why the GP didn’t tell you to go to A&E baffles me, especially if bleeding this long.

Call ur early pregnancy unit at the hospital or go to a&e. A Dr cannot physically diagnose a miscarriage over the phone without checking blood hcg levels or atleast a scan to show what’s happening. Anything could be happening eg, incomplete mc, ectopic. It’s scary how they have left you this long without offering any support or investigation. Always a message away if you need to chat. I had two mc last year so I understand what your going through and it can be quite lonely xx

@Lottie I feel like I'm constantly annoying them for help after being told 4 times now to "just keep testing, it's normal to bleed up to 6 weeks" I do feel lonely like I feel like I'm getting no help and this pain I'm in is normal. Thankyou for your lovely message xxx

@Lottie yeah she said its a miscarriage even though I've not been seen personally by anyone. I've told her I'm bleeding a lot and she said "we can't do anything, it's normal to bleed for 6 weeks" I said can she refer me to the baby loss center in hospital and she said she called them and they can't help me.. xx

@Jessica I will phone drs in morning as I'm not waiting 12+ hours in hospital, I went A&E A few weeks back, I was clearly having a miscarriage and they didn't even scan me or anything lol I was there for 12 hours and was no better off knowing what was happening when I was home xx

Yes it’s normal to bleed for up to 6 weeks after a miscarriage but you’re supposed to get a negative 3 weeks after it. Ring your early pregnancy unit as it could be an incomplete miscarriage and you may need a D&C to help remove the tissue and baby if you haven’t passed the baby yet x

@Julia thankyou! I will mention this to the drs and force them to actually see me in person and see if I need this D&C. I'll probably get sh*tty with them as I feel neglected. If they saw me 3 weeks ago this probably would all be sorted 😪xxx

Would go to A&E if you’re fainting and getting strong positives definitely. I never had tests etc after my miscarriage but was told if my test remained positive or heavy bleeding persisted for a long time then to come back in x

@Courtney Davis bless you, I am sorry for your loss too. Not to sounds silly but what is medical management?xxx

@Becca thing is I've been A&E and I've called drs 4 times telling them I'm still bleeding, I'm still positive. And they don't do anything. My blood is almost like a black colour so I'm going to call first thine tomorrow and demand to be seen in person xx

@Georgia Go to A&E or ring the early pregnancy unit tomorrow as if you’ve been ringing actual GP doctors they don’t do anything as they have nothing to do with pregnancies

You need to go to A&E & refuse to leave until you've had every test and check and scan to make sure your miscarriage is complete. Be prepared to advocate for yourself. Because a miscarriage can become life threatening if you have retained tissue.

@Susan I'm not going A&E. Ours Is so bad like I spent 12 hours there a few weeks back. Was told I had a water infection when it wasn't and it was the start of the miscarriage. I will call pregnancy unit in the morning and make sure I get seen there for tests and scans. I don't want to end up any more poorly than I already am. I had no idea tissue could even be retained or anything xxx

Maybe try a&e to get some help. Or if you can book a private scan because they will have to refer to you a hospital if they have any concerns on the scan. But defo try a&e first although you might not get seen straight away. I went when expecting a MC and they didn’t really do much but as yours is still ongoing weeks later they may do more for you x

@Georgia thank you girl, I had a blighted ovum (missed miscarriage) so I took 2 pills and it made me bleed (if it didn’t all come out I would’ve had to have a d&c) x

My experience with heavy bleeding and being pregnant in a&e you’ll get seen basically straight away x

If you're still having positive tests this could be an ectopic pregnancy, I really think you should go to A&E

I would present to emergency. You might have retained products of conception and might need to have a D&C. If left untreated, you might end up with a life threatening infection. It would also be good to check your haemoglobin and iron levels given the heavy bleeding. You might need a transfusion. I hope you get answers soon, it’s such a distressing time

I have called the drs this morning and they are referring me as an emergency to the early pregnancy unit to have a scan and to see what's happening. The pains last night where quite bad and I was being sick. So hopefully I get seen to soon!! Thankyou for all your messages and advice xxx

@Georgia how are you doing now x

@Joo hi, so I went hospital and I'm only now home, I had a scan and there was tissue left behind which has gone infected. They swabbed my cervix too, I'm on 2 different antibiotics. And tomorrow I might have to go back to have an antibiotic drip put in. I'm having pains almost like a mini contraction every hour. Is this normal do you know? I will mention on phone tomorrow when they call me again if it's still happening, it only started happening after they opened me to swab my cervix xxx

@Georgia maybe it opened your cervix a little; I’d definitely mention it x

@Georgia I’m glad you got some answers and things didn’t become more serious secondary to the infection. You are probably contacting as your body has recognised the tissue as foreign and is trying to get rid of it. I’m sorry all your concerns were previously dismissed. It might be worth considering changing gp’s in the future!

@Georgia I’m glad you were seen and taken seriously and things are being done. When I had my mc x2 I everything come out on its own and nothing was left behind. Keep contacting them and asking them if things are normal! Hopefully it starts to settle soon and your on the road to recovery x

@Courtney Davis so I phoned them ans explained and she said I was contracting like a labour, and shortly after I passed a clot and bled a lot but no pain since! I also was told my blood results and I have 2 infections so now on even more tablets but I'm going to be OK hopefully xxx

@Joo thankyou so much, I'm sorry you've had 2 mc 💔xxx

@Georgia you look after yourself girl! Hopefully you’ll be okay, keep us updated xxx

@Georgia maybe that last little bit come out though, I’d probably definitely try and have another scan now you’ve had more clots come out! X

@Georgia hope you’re feeling better soon. Here if you need a chat x
