Happy and settled. It’s a place to put them down when you need a moment for yourself, use the bathroom, eat a plate of food, make supper. Some babies need movement and don’t tolerate a playmat for longer than a few minutes.
This one isn’t recalled right? I have this one
I’ve never had issues with my son sleeping in a bouncer. When he does sleep in it over night, I put a large pillow or blanket underneath him to level him up so he’s not slouching asleep in it and losing circulation of him breathing. Most times, he just naps and/or just be happy and settled.
It’s mostly to keep them happy and settled, and to have a safe place to set them down if you need to. It’s also worth looking into the recall because sometimes the manufacturer will say adjustments to make to the product vs getting rid of the whole swing. Just this last week there was a recall on a fisher price swing that just recommended getting rid of the head and back cushion it comes with. Hope that helps 🙂
