Yes!!

Oh good, I was worrying as I know it can be a sign of Autism, he is fine in other aspects though socially so it may just be him getting excited!

Im a teacher and I honestly believe that at this age it’s too soon to even think about that (this isn’t professional advice but my experience). Babies can’t express themselves at the moment in any other way than body movements and noises but also, they’re learning they have body parts etc so I’m just viewing it as that and not worrying too much whilst she’s so little

Mine does! How old is your little one? My little girl is 4 months old and does it a lot. Also to settle herself and shakes her head rapidly too. I got told it’s there motor skills getting better x

@Lauren my little boy was 5 months on the 2nd, omg yes he shakes his head rapidly to go to sleep now!! And sometimes starts doing it randomly and I know that’s when he’s getting tired, glad you’ve said that as I was starting to wonder if this was normal too 😂 but figured it must just be a self soothing thing x

@Jade yes I was worried about it as didn’t think it was normal I noticed she started doing it when she was tired and I noticed she’s copied me doing it when one of her sensory videos is on I shake my head to the music now when it’s on she does it🤣🤣. Clever little shit. But I spoke to my HV and she said babies do it to settle themselves same as wacking there legs down too. Also fine motor skills improving was what else she said! Xx

Hahaha he always whacks his legs down he absolutely loves that 😂 aw that’s good to know then! X

@Lauren I’ve just read this and realised it makes a lot of sense my LO wacks his legs down and I thought he had trapped gas and I’m always getting him back out of his crib to give him a massage ffs 🤣🤣🤣

Completely developmentally normal at this age. Flapping also doesn't mean much anyway as I wasn't a flapper yet I'm autistic. Autism isn't specific symptoms, my autism symptoms might not exist at all in someone else and theirs might not appear in me. It's also not often noticable or even diagnosable until around 3 years. Just enjoy your baby for now and get to know them and all their little quirks 😊

Omg I thought all the head bashing was him wanting booby! But he thrashes his legs down too, all at 3am! I've probably been offering him booby rather than leaving him to it to self settle. Mind blown!

Yess! Mine does so good to read these comments as i wasnt sure too xx

Yes! My baby rolls himself onto his tummy to sleep now so can't roll his head side to side without smushing his face into the mattress so he will lift his head up and down! Bloody scary when you wake in the night and just see him there with his head straight up 🤣 He's a big flap and kicker when he's excited as well, favourite toys, boob, me and his dad; if he loves it and he sees it, he's a pile of flying limbs 🤣
