Pain when passing stool

My LB is over 11 months old now and I have experienced extreme pain passing stools ever since he was born. I’ve spent 11 months dreading needing the bathroom because of the pain and I can’t deal with it anymore. I saw my gp about it and they said I have tears around my anus and gave me a cream to heal them but it didn’t work. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried lactulose to help soften the stool so its easier to pass?

My GP prescribed laxido for me, I was on lactalose after our LG was born but they said that's not good long term as it's like syrup. Laxido you can take as little or as much as you need to help pass as soft as you need to help yourself recover with the cream if that makes sense

I’m so sorry you’re still going through this!! 😭 mine finally healed around 8 months after birth. I took lactulose to the point of giving myself verry soft stools everyday. I ended up just buying it from the pharmacy rather than getting it prescribed. I don’t think anything helps apart from that really! I used coconut oil just before using the loo, press a warm compress on your perineum whilst you’re on the loo. I used the cream but it gave the most horrendous headaches I had to stop. I hope it gets better soon for you!

@Beth can you get the laxido over the counter? I’m 10 months PP and the same there are times when going to the loo isn’t as bad and other times where I’m in so much pain. I was on lactulose after I had my little girl for 3 months but never got more of it or anything else, Other than anusol🤦🏽‍♀️ Hope it gets better for you, feel like everyone’s body’s heal differently x

I think it has to be prescribed but you might be able to speak to a pharmacist to get it. Ye my GP recommended anusol and said use both one to help keep everything moving and the other to heal but it's so difficult isn't it. It really does! Tbh I'm 11 months pp and still have issues.
