Car Seats

I’m seeking some advice on car seats. Neither my partner or myself drive, but our parents do. They have both offered to buy a car seat for us if we want lifts in their cars. We currently live with his parents. However we have a friends wedding, where we would need to get a cab. Our LO will be about 3 months by then. Is it easy enough to change car seats from one car to another? Could we use the one from his parents car and take that to use for the wedding? Thank you

Yes absolutely. I believe it takes seconds to remove a car seat from a car with no hassle. The parents can get the car seat out for you and return it after its been used.

I think some car seats don't need the base which might be easier when transitioning into things like cabs!

@Loren yeah I think this is what I’m concerned about. A lot of the ones we’ve seen have this huge base

We’ve just bought the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix which can go in using a seat belt. I found isofix so fiddly with my first, especially if changing between cars!

@Emily ooo I’ll have a look at this one. Thank you

Yeh, you want to look at car seats that are either belt fix only or can do both isofix and belt. There's so many out there!

We brought a ikle bubba travel system with the isofix base. The base stays in our car but the actual seat can attach to the pushchair and can go in any car without the base it’s easy enough to strap in honestly a life saver

@Becci I’ve also bought this but not sure how to secure the car seat in another car without the base! Any tips please? X

for a baby car seat yes very easy to take in and out, however when my baby outgrew his newborn car seat i made the mistake of buying a joie 360 spin dont get me wrong great car seat but i dont drive so it lives in my house and its massive and so heavy due to the isofix being attached to it and its an absoloute pain getting it in and out of the car constantly, for that reason i wish i got one that didnt have an isofix attached x
