Baby weight

How much did your babies weigh when they were born? I had a 4d scan today going back next week as the pictures weren’t great but they estimated her to weigh around 8pounds when shes born. Is that big? Im worried about giving birth anyway especially as I dont want the epidural 😅

I believe the average birth weight in the UK is around 8lb 7oz so 8lb isn’t big. I was told my girl would be around 9lb at 40 weeks. She came at 36+5 weighing 6lb 11. They are only estimates though so don’t take it as fact. Also, I really didn’t want an epidural but had 1 in the end and it was amazing 😅 if I’d known how far along I was I probably wouldn’t have bothered (about 8cm) but it was great and I could still walk around and go toilet etc too!

They estimated our little boy to be 10lb at birth and he was 7lb 14oz. I managed without an epidural as I really didn't want one and I was induced which is usually more intense, but did need an episiotomy x

@Kirsty whats an episiotomy?x

It’s where they cut you basically between your vagina and anus. I had 1 too because they needed to use suction on baby’s head 🙈

My first boy was 6lb 14oz, my second boy was 6lb 13oz They were estimating between 8lb & 9lb for both so they were way off 😅

Don’t take any notice of weight estimates, I was told my first would be small (around 7lbs) and she came out at 39+5 at 9lbs 12oz 😅

They estimated my daughter to be 11lb at 38 weeks, I had her at 38+4 and she was 7lb1. Scans are soooo off😂

I was told he would be 50th centile (so average) at 7lbs 8oz He was born full term at 5lbs 6oz. Their predictions are really inaccurate and only based upon thigh length.

My friends boy was estimated to be nearly 11lbs and he came out at 6lbs and he was also a week late, they aren’t always correct!

My scan was estimated at 10lbs and she came out at 9.9lbs

My baby was 5.5 pounds when she was born. She was a premi 36weeks
