Disheartened

Starting to feel disheartened and disconnected. 18+5, heard the babies heartbeat and found out it's a boy. I have an anterior placenta. Hearing about when people have felt their babies move, yet I have no clue what I'm looking/feeling for. I have loads of sensations that there's something swishing/ rolling around near my bladder. However nowhere provides information on what this is or if this is my baby moving. Just using this as a safe space to rant as I feel bad about having these feelings.

Hi!!!! Don’t worry! I am 22+5 and started feeling baby movements a few days after my 20 week scan, before that I used to feel like gas or little bubbles but I was not sure if it was baby or not. After my scan it is when I felt more notorious movements. I would say that most of the movements are felt when I am lying down or sitting down. Even now, it’s quite difficult to feel them if I am standing up or walking. I also have anterior placenta. So no worries! You will feel your baby boy soon!

I wouldn’t worry! My first pregnancy I had an anterior placenta I didn’t feel him move till about 22/23 weeks. This time round I’m 18 weeks tomorrow and I’ve not felt her move either so I’m assuming I have another anterior placenta and I keep seeing people on here saying you feel your second sooner, like definitely not! Xx

Honestly girl I feel the same way and it’s my second. Obviously I have an anterior placenta too. And it’s horrible not feeling him kick or move. And makes me wonder if I’ll ever feel him or that I’ll need to go for more growth scans to double check everything’s okay x

This is my first pregnancy and I'm 19 weeks today. I haven't felt "definite" movement happening and I think the best thing to do is not apply any social pressure on yourself. Let's face it give it just a few more weeks later down the line you will be receiving those certain kicks from your baby's foot. I get the swishing motion you're talking about and I am presuming at this point it is them moving. But it's very normal to start getting kicks after the 20 week point. So don't worry too much. 😊

My first, I felt bubbles popping at 22 weeks and then bigger movements. This time, nothing yet. Had/have an anterior placenta both pregnancy xx

This is my second pregnacy and second anterior and I feel the same, I was so hoping I had a different placement of placenta to feel the baby earlier but sods law isn't it? I'm still unsure on movements even though this is my second anterior pregnacy, I think I feel something but again I'm not sure as it could just be a brewing fart or burp🤣🤣 don't feel bad for feeling how you're feeling as it's natural to just want to feel those movements and feel your baby happy and wiggling away, you'll feel them soon as will I, it's just hard even more so when you're on an app and can see everyone updating that they've felt baby moving which is great and fantastic but does make it a bit harder to not feel deflated that you haven't yet x

Same here! I swear I lie down in a quiet room and put my hand on my stomach and I’m sure it’s just my pulse moving 😂😂😂 I gave up! Just going to let my body tell me when it’s time to feel. We’re deffo not alone so many others are in the same boat.

Im 19 weeks today and havent been 100% convinced i’ve felt baby move. Felt inconsistent feelings that made me think its baby but havent been definately sure. I also have a posterior placenta. Everyone is different, try not to compare your journey to others🫶🏼 aslong as baby is healthy thats all that matters xxx

I haven’t either but since I’m 36 I go to advance fetal medicine and have been having appts every 2 weeks for cervix checks and each time baby is in their moving & grooving, I’m 18w4d stay positive sis ❤️when they get to kickin they won’t stop

I saw the midwife on Friday and she said at this point they aren’t regular movements (until like 24 weeks) so it is hard to tell if it’s baby or something else but the swooshing/rolling you mention sounds like it could be baby. I also feel like I’m imagining the movements when I’m lying down and falling asleep, so I know how you feel!
