Daycare

Hi. I’m a single mom to a 1 year old. I have to go back to work, but only make $40 and I work three days a week. The nanny that wants to work for me charges $25 an hour. I’m really hesitant on daycare because my baby likes to be carried, she still contact naps and she’s needy. So I know it would not be a good fit. I just don’t know what to do.

Do you qualify for state benefits? You could potentially get childcare paid for from a program like crystal stairs. They will be able to cover the expenses of the nanny so you won’t need the daycare

@Lalita I don’t know, how do I go about doing that?

call them monday and let them know your situation

@Lenise who am I calling?

I tried searching it up online and it didn’t say anything lol

Oh nvm haha. Thank you!

Usually if you qualify for public assistance they can help you with it through GAIN

Do you have calworks? Calworks will pay a person of your choice to care for the baby.

@Lalita how will I know if I qualify?

@Giselle no, I don’t have anything. How does that work?

Contact your local DPSS office and ask for an application. You can look up the requirements online, I believe you can also fill out the application online

Would you recommend your nanny? My husband and I are currently looking for one
