labor

Hi im a FTM expecting in November. I was wondering does the baby stop moving as much/kicking as much in the days leading up to labor? I feel I heard that before but wanted to be sure. Also any other signs that you look back on now and go “oh yeah, labor was near”? Thank you in advance.

My son kicked and moved up until my water broke , and even after that.

Some babies may move less as labor nears as there is less space now. But some may continue to move despite that.. Mine kept moving and swirling and doing whatever she could, her movements were clearly visible. As for the other signs.. Of course the belly drop, you feel like your belly is moving down, cramp like feels, some people may urinate very frequently than usual before a day or 2 of labour, unable to sleep well, having mild pains down. And the contractions may begin very slightly, may feel like period cramps at first.. But slowly increases in intensity and duration. These are what i had the days before labour. Hope it helped.

My baby boy slowed down. I still feel him kicking but not as much as before.

mine stopped moving so much but she was in distress when on monitors when we got to hospital and ended up with a csection

You should continue to feel them move up to labour and during labour too. It’s not the case that movements will slow down on the approach to labour and would be a concern if they did. The last couple of weeks before I gave birth I read everything as a sign of labour but I’m not really sure any of it was. Baby was extremely low down and this made walking uncomfortable but this was for about two weeks. On the day of labour a few hours before my contractions started I started having period like cramps and then my contractions started just as I lost my mucus plug/ had a bloody show (but some people lose their mucus plug a while before labour).
