Advice please

I am 7 weeks pregnant and just managed to give myself an electric shock on my right hand from our electric clothes dryer, I have no marks on me and I feel fine. I’m now just a little anxious on if this can affect the baby and if anyone else has done anything like this whilst pregnant ? Thank you

My husband (RN) said he wouldn’t be worried about it at all. Finger to finger is the path of least resistance, so it didn’t travel through the baby at all. It’s different if you were standing in water. It’s always better safe than sorry, you can easily go in and say you got zapped and get an ultrasound. Personally that’s what I would do. Peace of mind is a good thing.

Thanks so much xx

I did this in my first pregnancy. Touched the bathroom light switch at work and the person who'd used it previously had obviously not dried their hands so it was wet and i got a shock. I remember being so panicked about it and phoned triage and they said if i was fine, baby would be too If you're in any doubt, phone triage. That's what they're there for. I'm sure they'd be happy to put your mind at rest x

Thank you I feel fine but may give them a call tomorrow for peace of mind x

I got electrocuted at 25 weeks pregnant and ended up all being fine. I even felt it go right across my belly and my waters! X They sent me in for monitoring and baby was completely fine and it was a fair shock

I'm glad to hear you're feeling fine after the electric shock. It's totally normal to feel anxious, especially during pregnancy. If you're concerned, it's always a good idea to reach out to your healthcare provider just to be safe. They can provide reassurance and guidance on any potential risks to the baby. Take care of yourself and the little one! 🤰💕

This happened to me maybe around 10 weeks and I was freaking out but my MIL who’s a nurse said it was fine nothing to worry about. Since then I’ve had a scan and everything is good with baby. I was so scared though so I totally feel you!

Thanks for the reassurance ladies, I’ve just called the on call midwife and she told me not to worry there’s no risk to the baby so all is good! 🤞🤍
