Bump measurements

When was the first time you had your bump measured? I’m 27 weeks and still haven’t- but was sent home with a tape measure. Got a bit upset as the tape measure didn’t even go around my waist… my friend then told me it’s not to go around you 🤣 but I wasn’t told how to measure it otherwise!

I was told at my last midwife appointment (24 weeks) that it was too early to measure me so I've not had any measurements done. I've got my 28 weeks appointment on Monday so that will be the first time I'm measured. I don't think women having second babies etc even have a 24 week appointment so it makes sense!

@Loren ahh perfect thank you, my 28 week appointment is coming up ☺️ just gave me a fright that my friend said she was measured from 16 weeks!!

In Australia we measure from 24 weeks. They measure what’s called the fundal height, pubic bone to uterus but it would be way too hard to do this at home I think!

They used to do it at 26W but now it’s becoming standard to do it at your 28W midwife appointment :)

28 weeks I think :) they’ve probably just given a tape measure to keep for your next appointment

I had tape measured at 25wks, my 28wks appt is on Monday and she said she will measure again.

26 weeks but it should have been 25 weeks but my appt was pushed back. I've read the measurements are very subjective so I don't think it would be very accurate to do it yourself and the midwife will know best where to measure. It goes from the top of your uterus to your pubic bone. The measurements should roughly correspond with number of weeks you are but my midwife said the most important thing is the measurement staying on a similar trajectory so I measured 27 at 26 weeks so at my next appt at 28 weeks she would expect me to measure 29

I had my 25 weeks midwife appointment today and she measured my belly today for the first time.

I had my first measurement at 24 weeks. I had another at 25+3 weeks. My next is at 28 weeks ☺️

Bit like whether each midwife uses the Doppler to listen to baby’s heartbeat or not, it’s dependent on the trust and area you live in. Where I am (South East - Kent) it’s from 28 weeks for fundal height

I had my 24weeeks appointment with my midwife and she measured my belly for the first time

I had mine measured at 25 weeks

Second pregnancy, I got measured at 25 weeks appointment. First pregnancy was at 24 weeks appointment
