Ab separation

Hello, I am 5 months PP and have one finger ab separation. I’m doing strengthening exercises and steering clear of crunching. Anyone successful in completely closing their ab separation and how long did it take? Do I just need patience? Not my strong suit!

I’m 4 mos pp, had a 3 finger separation and I’d say it’s about 90-95% closed and has been for a while. I still have a separation behind my belly button but I’m not too worried about it.

When it comes to measuring ab separation, there is a lot of misinformation out there. When measuring, make sure you're lying down with knees bent and head on the floor. Check out Motherly for videos on how to check for Diastasis Recti; their program is also a really great program for closing it up. If you're measuring while laying down, with your head up, your abs are being squeezed together, so that would not be an accurate representation of where your abs are when not flexed. I went from a 4 finger separation to a 2 finger separation. It's been about a year but I also haven't been as consistent as I prob should

I found measuring myself tricky. I had a pelvic floor therapist and a chiro both assess me separately and both said 1 finger above and below the belly button. Seems to be getting less deeper but definitely not totally closed.

@Allison That's great! You're almost there!
